Cell Phone Caused Accidents - Number

In 2003, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) collected data showing that cell phone use had caused 240,000 accidents in 2002.

The U.S. government estimates that more than 500,000 people were injured and 5,870 were killed in 2008 in crashes involving driver distraction, in many cases because of cell phone use.
